Membership Information…
We invite all independent schools to become a member of the ISA. The membership application and website directory information can be downloaded by clicking on the link below. Annual membership renewal is May 31. There are many benefits to being an ISA member, like:
Annual In-Service Training
The ISA values excellence in independent school education. We contribute to the independent school community by conducting an annual meeting that satisfies continuing education units for faculty and staff. Each year the ISA hosts an event featuring a nationally recognized lead educator who speaks to an audience of approximately 500 independent school educators. Past speakers include:
• Dr. Mel Levine (2002), co-founder of “All Kinds of Minds” (featured on Oprah).
• Dr. Robert Brooks (2003), one of today's leading speakers on the themes of resilience, self-esteem, motivation, and family relationships.
• Thomas Lickona (2004), developmental psychologist and Professor of Education at the State University of New York at Cortland, where he has completed award-winning work in teacher education. Dr. Lickona is the director of the nationally recognized Center for the Fourth and Fifth R’s (Respect and Responsibility).
• Dr. Maurice Elias (2005) Professor, Department of Psychology, Rutgers University, and Co-Developer of the Social Decision Making/Social Problem Solving Project. His recent books include, Emotionally Intelligent Parenting: How to Raise a Self-Disciplined, Responsible, and Socially Skilled Child and Raising Emotionally Intelligent Teenagers: Guiding the Way for Compassionate, Committed, Courageous Adults.
• Dr. Rob Evans (2006) is a clinical and organizational psychologist and the Executive Director of The Human Relations Service in Wellesley, Mass. and author of Family Matters: How Schools Can Cope with the Crisis in Childrearing.
Group Marketing Opportunities
At least two times per year, members of ISA participate in a group advertisement in a major publication like the San Antonio Express News and Our Kid’s Magazine. This opportunity raises a level of awareness for all independent schools and provides a typically expensive marketing tool at an affordable rate. School postings on the ISA website are available for members of the ISA to post their school’s information on the website. A link is provided directly to the member’s school website, which provides an affordable avenue for internet accessibility. You may also post your school’s upcoming events such as an open house on the calendar page.
Networking Opportunity
The opportunity to network with other leaders in education is perhaps one of the most significant benefits to the ISA membership. It is an invaluable support system for information allocation and provides an opportunity to understand the needs and concerns within the larger community. If we understand one another, we can facilitate family location of an independent school that is right for their child.
Current Affairs
You will recieve updates about legislative issues from the Texas Association of Non Public Schools (TANS) as well as information from other educational sources. Our goal is to help schools remain connected at a local and state level.
